Reaction
This trick is used in response to a trigger defined in its description. When the condition for the trigger occurs, you may use this trick, even if it's not your turn. [Reaction] actions are free (0 AP).
You have a number of [Reaction] actions equal to your Agility score. When you spend a [Reaction], it is gone for the rest of the scene. All of your [Reaction] actions refresh at the start of a new scene.
When you use a trick as a [Reaction], its outcome is applied before the condition that triggered it. In some cases, this can mean that the triggering condition never actually takes place.
-GET -Reaction //example
For example, a thug attempts a Melee Strike against you. You spend a [Reaction] and roll Dodge. You score a Cool Success, which causes the thug's [Attack] to be [Downgraded]. The GM rolls for the thug and scores a Success, but due to the player's Dodge, the thug's outcome is [Downgraded] to a Fade. This deals [Minimum Damage], but you are wearing [Armor] so the damage is [Reduced]. Because it is already [Minimum Damage], it is [Reduced] to [Absolute Damage] of 1. However, Cools Success on Dodge says, "if you would take [Absolute Damage], you instead take no damage and may immediately [Move] [Nearby]." In this case, even though the thug rolled a Success, the final result was that no damage was dealt and you got to [Move] away for free.
